IndyCar practice interrupted as personnel walk on Texas circuit 1

ARLINGTON, Texas — IndyCar officials were compelled to deploy a red flag to halt the cars as they exited the pit area during Saturday’s practice session when three personnel were observed on the active track.

No injuries were reported.

Practice for the inaugural Grand Prix of Arlington resumed after a brief interruption as IndyCar officials inspected the temporary 2.73-mile, 14-turn circuit situated on the streets surrounding the stadiums of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

The television broadcast captured the three workers, who seemed to be part of a catering team. One individual was seen maneuvering a catering cart in an area between AT&T Stadium, the home of the Cowboys, and a nearby hospitality zone.

Cars participating in practice for Sunday’s race had not yet reached full speed when the track incursion was detected.
