Formula 1 racer Kimi Antonelli has emerged unharmed from a vehicular incident near his residence in San Marino.

His Mercedes team announced on Tuesday that the 19-year-old Italian sustained no injuries, with no other vehicles involved in the incident, which took place on Saturday.

“We can confirm that Kimi was involved in a traffic accident on Saturday night near his home in San Marino,” Mercedes stated in an announcement.

“The police responded to the scene after being contacted by Kimi. His was the sole vehicle involved, and although his car suffered damage, Kimi was entirely unharmed.”

Sports publication La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that a Mercedes supercar collided with a retaining wall along the San Marino Superstrada in Italy. It noted that an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Pre-season testing commences on Tuesday in Bahrain.
