World Para Ice Hockey Championship Begins Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y. 1 | ASL

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team is set to compete in the 2025 World Para Ice Hockey Championship, which begins Saturday (May 24) in Buffalo, N.Y., at the LECOM Harborcenter. is seeking its seventh gold medal all-time at the event.

Team USA opens play on Saturday (May 24) against Norway at 1:30 p.m. ET and will also face Slovakia (May 25/1:30 p.m. ET) and (May 27/1:30 p.m. ET) in preliminary round play. Quarterfinals will be held May 28, followed by semifinals on May 30. The bronze and gold-medal games will be played on May 31.

“The World Championship is the culmination of what we have been working towards all season long,” said , head coach of the U.S. National Sled Team. “We are looking forward to competing for gold against the best teams in the world on home ice.”

Team USA enters the tournament with a 13-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record this season, including winning the 2024 IPH Cup title in Ostrava, Czechia, in October, and the 2024 Para Hockey Cup championship in Charlottetown, P.E.I. in December. 

NOTES: The U.S. holds a 48-3-1-16 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all-time record at the World Para Ice Hockey Championship … Team USA has won a record six gold medals, and has played in 10 of the last 11 gold-medal games … Dan Brennan (Colorado Springs, Colo.), director of sled national teams for USA Hockey, is in his 19th season as the general manager of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.) is in his seventh season as head coach of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team and is joined by assistant coach Corey Gorder (Bottineau, N.D.) and goalie coach Eric Woodbeck (Minot, N.D.). Additional staff members include team physician Mike Uihlein (Grafton, Wis.), athletic trainer Mike Cortese (Boynton Beach, Fla.), equipment manager Scott Aldrich (Hancock, Mich.), communications coordinator Seamus Kelley (Norwood, Mass.), and content coordinator Summer Dutton (Ludlow, Mass.).
