U.S. Competes Against Germany in Men’s World Championship at 2:20 p.m. ET Today
ZURICH, Switzerland – The U.S. Men’s National Team faces Germany tonight at 8:20 p.m. (2:20 p.m. ET/NHL Network) in the fourth of seven preliminary round matches in the IIHF Men’s World Championship at Swiss Life Arena. The game will be broadcast live on NHL Network.

The U.S. is coming off a 6-2 loss to Finland on Monday (May 18), with Matt Coronato and Ryan Leonard netting the two goals for Team USA. The U.S. began the tournament with a 3-1 defeat against Switzerland last Friday (May 15), followed by a 5-2 victory over Great Britain on Sunday (May 17).
Germany has yet to secure a win in its first three matches, suffering a 3-1 loss in its tournament opener against Finland on May 15, a 2-0 setback against Latvia on May 17, and a 6-1 defeat to host Switzerland on May 18.
Tonight marks the 25th encounter between the U.S. and Germany, with Team USA holding a record of 15-0-2-4-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T). The U.S. has triumphed in seven of the last eight contests in this matchup, including a 6-3 victory in last year’s world championship.
Prior to this year’s world championship, the U.S. and Germany faced off in a pre-tournament game, where Team USA utilized five different goal scorers to achieve a 5-2 win on May 10 in Mannheim, Germany.
Matthew Tkachuk arrived yesterday in Zurich and will be included in the lineup for tonight’s game.
Following tonight’s match, the U.S. will have a two-day break.
