MILAN – The U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team is set to face Slovakia in the Olympic semifinals at Santaguilia Ice Arena tonight. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 9:10 p.m. local time/3:10 p.m. ET. Viewers in the U.S. can catch the live broadcast on NBC, with Peacock also streaming the match.
A place in Sunday’s (Feb. 22) gold-medal game is on the line against the victor of the Canada-Finland matchup, which is taking place in the other semifinal today.

Team USA has participated in only two prior semifinal games and emerged victorious in both. In 2010, the U.S. netted six goals in the first period and ultimately defeated Finland, 6-1, while in 2002, Team USA triumphed over Russia, 3-2.
Slovakia advanced to tonight’s semifinal after securing a 6-2 victory against Germany in the first quarterfinal match on Wednesday (Feb. 18). Meanwhile, the U.S. played in the final quarterfinal game, where Quinn Hughes scored in overtime to lead the team to a 2-1 win over Sweden in a dramatic finish.
The U.S. and Slovakia have clashed six times previously in the Olympics, with Team USA holding a 3-0-1-1-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) record. The teams have met in the last three Olympic tournaments, including in 2022 when Slovakia eliminated Team USA’s medal aspirations with a 3-2 shootout win.
Connor Hellebuyck will be in goal tonight. He boasts a 3-0 record and leads the tournament with the highest save percentage (.958) and goals against average (0.98). He was instrumental in Team USA’s 2-1 overtime victory over Sweden in the semifinals, making 28 saves on 29 shots.
