ZURICH, Switzerland – The U.S. Men’s National Team is set to compete in its second of seven preliminary round matches in the IIHF Men’s World Championship today at 12:20 p.m. (6:20 a.m. ET) against Great Britain at Swiss Life Arena. The match will be broadcast live on NHL Network.
The U.S. recently faced a 3-1 defeat to host Switzerland on Friday in its tournament debut, marking a rematch of last year’s gold medal contest. Alex Steeves netted the only goal for the U.S. in a tightly contested encounter against the Swiss, who have claimed silver in the last two men’s championships.

Great Britain played its opening game yesterday, suffering a 5-2 loss to Austria. The team has returned to the top division of the world championship after a one-year absence.
This matchup marks only the seventh encounter between the two teams in the world championship, with the U.S. holding four victories and two ties in the previous six meetings.
