MEMBERTOU, Nova Scotia – The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team will face Hungary in the quarterfinals of the 2026 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship on Thursday (Jan. 15).

TODAY'S MATCH UP

Today’s game marks Team USA's quarterfinal match at the Under-18 Women's World Championship. The team enters the contest coming off a perfect 3-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) clip in the preliminary round, securing the top spot in Group B.

IN THE QUARTERFINALS

This is just the third time the U.S. has skated in the quarterfinals following a format change at the tournament in 2024. The U.S. is 2-0 in quarterfinal games, having outscored opponents, 13-3, in those meetings.

ALL TIME AGAINST HUNGARY

This marks just the second all-time meeting between Team USA and Hungary at the Under-18 Women's World Championship. The teams last met March 24, 2014, 4,316 days ago, in the preliminary round of the 2014 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship, with the U.S. winning, 7-0.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK HAT TRICKS

Forward Jane Daley recorded a hat trick in Tuesday's win, contributing to a four-point night (3G, 1A). The performance marked her third consecutive hat trick after scoring five points (3G, 2A) in Sunday's 9-1 victory over Czechia, and four points (3G, 1A) in Saturday's 13-0 win over Slovakia. Daley leads all skaters in scoring (9) and total points (13).

Stickney sets American win record

Goaltender Morgan Stickney recorded seven saves in Tuesday's win over Finland, marking her fifth career shutout at this tournament and seventh career win, setting a new American career win record at this tournament. Stickney is one win away from tying the IIHF career win record at the tournament and two away from breaking it.
