GAME DAY | Men’s World Championship Match Against Finland Scheduled for Today at 10:20 a.m. ET
ZURICH, Switzerland – The U.S. Men’s National Team is set to compete against Finland today at 4:20 p.m. (10:20 a.m. ET/NHL Network) in its third preliminary round match of the IIHF Men’s World Championship at Swiss Life Arena. The game will be broadcast live on NHL Network.
In their previous match yesterday, the U.S. secured a 5-1 victory over Great Britain, marking their first win of the tournament. Team USA’s offense was highlighted by two goals from Isaac Howard, along with a goal and two assists each from Mathieu Olivier and Paul Cotter, and a goal and an assist from Declan Carlile. Devin Cooley earned the win in goal, making 19 saves.

Finland had a day off yesterday and enters today’s game with a record of 2-0, following a 3-1 victory over Germany on Friday (May 15) and a 4-1 win against Hungary on Saturday (May 16).
This matchup marks the 70th encounter between the two teams in the world championship, with Finland holding a series advantage of 33-2-2-24-8 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T). Team USA has emerged victorious in the last two meetings, including a 5-2 win in the quarterfinals of last year’s tournament, where Conor Garland netted two power play goals and Jeremy Swayman recorded 20 saves.
For Team USA, today’s game represents their third contest in four days to kick off the world championship.
