Zach Johnson claims victory at James Hardie in his Champions Tour debut.

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Two-time major champion Zach Johnson celebrated his 50th birthday on Feb. 24 and promptly made an impact in his PGA Tour Champions debut, finishing with a 3-under 69 for a four-shot win at the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational.
After an early bogey, which was his sole mistake on the scorecard, he added four birdies to secure his lead on the Old Course at Broken Sound.
He became the 22nd player to triumph in his first appearance on the 50-and-older circuit. Stewart Cink (70) and George McNeill (72) took second place.
“Maintaining a reasonable level of fitness to compete with these players … because it’s still very high-quality golf, fiercely competitive on an exceptional course, I feel honored,” Johnson stated. “I am incredibly enthusiastic, and I have been looking forward to this. The moment I arrived here, I thought, ‘This is something special.’
Johnson concluded at 11-under 205 and received $330,000, elevating him to No. 3 in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, with Cink remaining in the lead.
Johnson had not secured a victory since winning the British Open at St. Andrews in 2015. He served as the U.S. Ryder Cup captain at Marco Simone in 2023, where his team was defeated by Europe.
