TGL recap: Los Angeles defeats New York 6-3, moves on to playoffs

On Monday night, Los Angeles Golf Club faced off against New York Golf Club in the second of three consecutive days of TGL competition at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This match followed a tightly contested game on Sunday between Jupiter Links Golf Club and Boston Common Golf.
Los Angeles triumphed over New York with a score of 6-3, securing their place in the TGL playoffs and concluding New York’s season.
For Los Angeles, the lineup included Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, and Collin Morikawa, while Sahith Theegala did not participate. On the opposing team, Cameron Young, Rickie Fowler, and Matt Fitzpatrick were in action, whereas Xander Schauffele was absent.

Young nearly drains one from the bunker
Following a challenging second shot by Fitzpatrick on Hole 4 that forced New York to play from the bunker, Young took his turn. He came close to sinking a shot from 22 feet away, leaving the ball just 11 inches from the hole. Despite Young’s impressive effort, the hole concluded in a tie.
Rose nearly sinks hole-in-one
Rose almost single-handedly contributed a point for Los Angeles on Hole 7. His initial shot landed just over two feet from the hole, positioning his team to score and take a 3-1 advantage.

Fleetwood hits impressive third shot
Fleetwood executed an excellent approach shot on Hole 9. The 78-yard shot came to rest just under six feet from the pin, allowing LA to tie the hole and extend their lead to 4-1 heading into the singles segment of the match.

Fitzpatrick puts NY within one point
After trailing throughout the match, New York closed the gap to one point as they approached the final hole. On Hole 14, Fitzpatrick made a putt from nearly 24 feet away, reducing the LA lead to 4-3 and heightening the stakes for Hole 15.
