HAINAN ISLAND, China — Jordan Gumberg made par on the final hole Sunday with an up-and-down play for a 2-under 70, securing victory over Spain’s Jorge Campillo to win the Hainan Classic.

This marks the second title on the European tour for the 30-year-old American. Gumberg previously claimed a win in South Africa in 2024, but it was his performance towards the end of last season that paved the way for his success on Hainan Island.

Gumberg was close to losing his European tour card when he made an eagle on the last hole of the Genesis Championship in South Korea, which allowed him to ascend into the top 115 in the Race to Dubai and retain his full card for 2026.

“After the conclusion of last year, to be on the podium once more and holding a trophy is surreal,” remarked Gumberg, who completed his college golf at Arizona and was the runner-up to Jon Rahm in the Pac-12 Championship in 2016. “It’s remarkable.”

Campillo finished with a 71 and had opportunities for birdies on the last three holes to catch up to Gumberg, but all attempts narrowly missed.

Zhou Yanhan, the 17-year-old from China who participated in the Puerto Rico Open on the PGA Tour two weeks prior, concluded with a 69, tying for third place with Adrian Otaegui of Spain (64) and Marcus Armitage of England (69).
