USMNT unveils 2026 World Cup uniform: A tribute to stars and stripes

The United States Soccer Federation has unveiled the uniforms that the USMNT will don during this summer’s FIFA World Cup, drawing inspiration directly from the American flag.
U.S. Soccer partnered with Nike to design two jerseys — one featuring stars and the other stripes — which will be showcased at this summer’s World Cup, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The home jersey showcases wavy red and white stripes reminiscent of the team’s 2012 uniform. The away jersey presents a more understated design, with stars subtly integrated into the deep navy blue fabric.
Additionally, these kits have a distinctive feature: they will be worn by all 27 U.S. Soccer teams, including the USWNT. For the first time, every team representing the U.S. will be connected by the same crest and kit design.
“A national team jersey embodies the pride of wearing the crest, not only for the players on the field but also for the fans who support them throughout,” stated Dave Wright, chief commercial officer of U.S. Soccer.
“With the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup approaching in the United States, we are eager to see players from all 27 of our National Teams and supporters nationwide wearing this kit as we prepare for an extraordinary moment for the sport.”

In a press release, U.S. Soccer indicated that players were involved in the design process through workshops and listening sessions, discussing intricate details such as fabric weight, seam placement, mobility, and fit. For this World Cup, every detail regarding the kits has been meticulously considered.
There are notable design elements to mention as well. Each jersey features an “Inner Pride” mark inside the collar, symbolizing each player’s personal motivation. The numbers and names utilize a newly developed “Stars and Stripes” font, which will be adopted for all future kits.
“I believe both kits offer something for everyone,” remarked Ronnie J. Stewart, global product director for Nike. “If you wish to be bold and proudly represent the crest, the light kit makes that clear. If you prefer a lifestyle look suitable for off the field, the dark kit is the choice for you.”
Fans will have their first opportunity to see the jerseys in action when the USMNT competes against Belgium in a friendly match at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on March 28. Mauricio Pochettino’s team is also set to face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal on April 1, again in Atlanta.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will commence at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11, with Mexico hosting South Africa. The USMNT’s opening match will take place on June 12 against Paraguay at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium.
