Tottenham Hotspur forward Dominic Solanke stated that the squad has exhausted all excuses following their Premier League survival aspirations suffering another setback with a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday.

Spurs — among the wealthiest clubs in Europe and a founding member of the Premier League — find themselves just one point above the relegation zone and have not secured a domestic victory in 2026.

“We recently had an important discussion. We recognize that our current standing is certainly not where we wish to be, so we must determine how to escape this situation as quickly as possible,” Solanke told TNT Sports.

“We are aware of the challenges, but we can no longer afford to make excuses. We need to perform on the pitch. It is simple to express our desire to improve, but we must demonstrate that improvement on the field.

“We need to battle and acknowledge the situation we are in. We understand that the club is not accustomed to being in this predicament, so we must comprehend it and realize that it will not be easy. We need to fight in every match, every minute, to ensure we make progress.”

Spurs’ most recent loss marked their fifth consecutive defeat and the third under new manager Igor Tudor, who has been given the task of revitalizing the season.

He observed as his team faltered in front of their home supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — conceding three goals in the first half after initially taking the lead and then going down to 10 men when Micky van de Ven received a red card.

Palace capitalized fully by netting three times within seven minutes before halftime.

Ismaïla Sarr scored twice — including one from the penalty spot — while Jørgen Strand Larsen added another for the visitors.

This occurred after Solanke had put Spurs ahead in the 34th minute. Van de Ven was sent off four minutes later for fouling Sarr in the penalty area, allowing Palace to seize control.

A significant number of Spurs supporters left their seats at halftime, and although Tudor’s undermanned squad displayed some resilience in the second half, this latest defeat extended the club’s winless streak to 11 matches, setting a new club record in the Premier League.

“I am very disappointed, just like the fans,” Tudor remarked. “We understand the current situation and must continue to work and maintain our belief.

“However, after this match, I believe even more than before because I observed something in the team and in the locker room after the game. When we are complete, it will be positive, I am confident.”

The escalating crisis at Tottenham follows their Europa League triumph last season and their progression to the knockout stage of the Champions League this season, where they will face Atlético Madrid in the round of 16 next week.

Yet their troubling league performance has persisted from last year when they finished just above the relegation zone — their lowest final standing in the Premier League era.

“I need to select the right individuals because the direction of the team must align with my vision, and those who are committed can remain,” Tudor stated. “Otherwise, they can step aside or, as you might say, leave the team.

“So, when the other players return and I choose the right [players], I am confident we will have a strong team and victories will return. It is difficult to accept our current situation, but it is what it is.”

Their struggles also occur during a turbulent time, having had seven managers in less than seven years.

Tottenham has spent only one season outside of England’s top division since 1950 and has been a consistent member of the Premier League since its establishment in 1992.

Deloitte ranked Spurs ninth on its latest rich list in January, with revenues of $781 million, placing Tottenham above notable clubs such as Chelsea, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus.
