Tammy Abraham has transferred to Aston Villa from Besiktas just one day after officially joining the Turkish side on a permanent deal from Roma.

The 28-year-old had been on loan at Besiktas from Roma this season before the transfer was finalized for a fee of €13 million (£11.3m/$15.6m) on Monday.

This transaction was a precursor to Abraham’s transfer to Unai Emery’s Premier League title-contending Aston Villa, which has now been confirmed. It allows Besiktas to profit from Abraham’s short tenure, as they reported receiving €21 million (£18.3m/$25.2m) from Villa.

The English striker, who has earned 11 caps for his national team, netted 13 goals in 26 appearances for Besiktas.

Abraham developed through Chelsea’s academy before taking on a starting role for the first team under Frank Lampard. However, he eventually lost his place at the west London club and moved to Roma in 2021. He scored 39 goals in 120 matches for the Serie A team, securing the Conference League title under José Mourinho in 2022.

This transfer signifies a return to Aston Villa for Abraham, who spent the 2018-19 season on loan at the club from Chelsea, contributing to their promotion to the Premier League from the Championship.
