FLORENCE, Italy — Giuseppe Commisso has been appointed as the new president of Fiorentina, taking over from his father, Rocco Commisso, on Tuesday, thereby ensuring the New York-based family remains at the helm of the club.
The board of the club reached this decision 10 days following the passing of Rocco Commisso.
Catherine Commisso, Rocco’s spouse, has been appointed to the board of directors for Fiorentina.
“I am fully dedicated to upholding my father’s legacy and the vision he established for Fiorentina,” Giuseppe stated.
“We will persist in our efforts to enhance the club, while fully honoring its values, history, and connection with the city and its fans, just as my father has done until now.”
Fiorentina is experiencing a challenging season, currently positioned 18th in Serie A’s relegation zone. The team is set to face Como in the round of 16 of the Italian Cup later on Tuesday.
