Nottingham Forest dismissed coach Sean Dyche on Wednesday, following the team’s 0-0 stalemate with Premier League’s last-placed Wolves, as announced by the club.

Dyche was the third manager for Forest this season, succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo, who began the season as head coach, and his successor Ange Postecoglou, both of whom were let go early in the Premier League campaign.

Following the draw with Wolves, Forest currently sits in 17th position in the Premier League, three points clear of the relegation zone.

A statement from Forest read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.”

“We would like to express our gratitude to Sean and his staff for their contributions during their tenure at the club and wish them success in their future endeavors.”

“We will not be making any further comments at this time.”

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who previously had a public disagreement with Espirito Santo prior to his departure, was present in the stands on Wednesday. After the match, Dyche appeared to accept his situation following a challenging series of results.

“The owner has been fair to me, without a doubt,” Dyche stated. “If anyone decides to make a change in football now, that is their choice. We have all witnessed it.”

“People can call for change, and then it is always a matter of whether they follow through. I simply work diligently. I care about this club, and I have made that evident. I am putting in a lot of effort.”

“If the owner wishes to implement a change, that is his prerogative, and that is the nature of football now; that is just the reality.”

Last season, Forest finished seventh in the Premier League under Espirito Santo, narrowly missing out on a Champions League position after a disappointing conclusion to the season, yet securing European football for the first time since 1995-96.

Nuno had signed a new three-year contract at the City Ground in June 2025 but was dismissed in September due to a deterioration in his relationship with Marinakis.

Former Tottenham manager Postecoglou was quickly appointed as the Portuguese’s successor but lasted only 40 days in the role, with Marinakis making the decision to part ways shortly after a 3-0 loss to Chelsea.

Dyche, who resides in Nottingham and was a trainee at the club, became the third first-team manager of the season on October 21 and was accompanied in the dugout by former Forest legends Ian Woan and Steve Stone.

They secured a victory against Porto in his debut match and seemed to have turned a corner after a 3-0 triumph over Premier League champions Liverpool a month later.

Wednesday’s draw leaves Forest with only two wins from their last 10 matches in the Premier League—a stretch during which they also exited the FA Cup to Championship side Wrexham—as they struggled to distance themselves from the relegation battle.
