Pep Guardiola labels Man City vs Arsenal as a ‘decisive match’ in the intensifying title competition.

Pep Guardiola stated that Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal has turned into a “final” following a 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which brought his team within six points of Mikel Arteta’s league leaders, with a game still to play.
A strong performance in the second half, featuring goals from Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guéhi, and Jérémy Doku, secured the win for City. With Arsenal experiencing a 2-1 loss at home to Bournemouth on Saturday, City now has the opportunity to clinch the title by winning all seven of their remaining league matches.
The match against Arsenal at the Etihad has become crucial, as the Gunners are also aware that winning all six of their final games will guarantee them the title.
Although Guardiola emphasized that City faces challenging matches ahead, he acknowledged that the game against Arsenal has the potential to be decisive.
“Arsenal is a final,” Guardiola remarked. “But don’t suggest that Brentford [on May 9] will be straightforward.
“We are set to face a team [Arsenal] that has lost only three out of 49 games, and they haven’t lost in the Champions League.
“In the Carabao Cup final, we were seen as complete underdogs—there isn’t a single person in this country who would have wagered £1 on us being significantly better. Perhaps the situation is a bit different now.
“I hold great respect for Arsenal and what they have accomplished in recent years. I am familiar with the manager, the players, their quality, and how they compete in every situation; that is our greatest challenge.
“They have been the top team in this country and in Europe thus far. Defeating Arsenal once is incredibly difficult—imagine doing it twice within a few weeks.
“The past was something exceptional, but we are evolving. We have long weeks ahead now that we are out of the Champions League, but we are fresher, and in training, everyone understands precisely what they need to do.”
City’s victory against Chelsea was fueled by Rayan Cherki, who assisted the first two goals for O’Reilly and Guéhi in a standout performance.

However, Guardiola noted that the summer acquisition from Lyon still has room for growth, despite achieving 10 assists in his debut season with City.
“Rayan is an exceptional talent,” Guardiola stated. “The second goal, the pass to Marc [Guéhi].
“The challenge for Rayan is that he sometimes positions himself too close to [Gianluigi] Donnarumma—his talent should be utilized in the final third. He needs to be near Haaland and the wingers.

“We will bring the ball to you. It’s unnecessary to come down the pitch.
“He is very young, and his impact in the Premier League during his first season… he is already an outstanding player.
“He has the ambition to improve further. That will benefit both City and himself.”
