North Carolina Courage appoints Mak Lind as head coach

The North Carolina Courage revealed Mak Lind as the new head coach of the team on Saturday.
Lind, 37, comes to the Courage from the Swedish club BK Häcken Women.
He stated to ESPN that he was drawn to North Carolina’s possession-oriented style of play.

“I don’t think there is a singular approach to playing football, but alignment is essential from both the club and coaching perspectives,” Lind shared with ESPN.
“The Courage aims to play possession-based football, which aligns with my current coaching philosophy and adds direction to it. I prefer to implement line-breaking possession football, meaning that every action we take is purposeful. We possess the ball with intent.”
North Carolina has been without a permanent head coach since the dismissal of Sean Nahas in August. The Courage ultimately concluded the season in ninth place, falling short of the playoffs by a single point.
Lind is the third head coach for the franchise since its relocation to North Carolina in 2017. (The Courage was formerly known as the Western New York Flash, which competed in Rochester, New York, and secured an NWSL title in 2016.)
