Fabregas seeks minor Bombonera for Coppa clash against Inter

Cesc Fabregas has called on Como supporters to transform their Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium into a “mini Bombonera” for the upcoming Coppa Italia match against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
Fabregas’ team is set to face the Serie A leaders in the first leg of their semifinal, and the former Arsenal midfielder desires that the home crowd generates an atmosphere reminiscent of Boca Juniors’ renowned stadium in Buenos Aires.
“This is a significant moment in the season, and we must accord this match the importance it warrants,” Fabregas stated on the club’s official website.
“The stadium needs to feel like a little Bombonera [on Tuesday]. Inter are the strongest team in the league, and they have been for quite some time, boasting exceptional players.
“We will aim to deliver an impressive performance, being aware of their strengths and their few vulnerabilities. We will seek to exploit them.
“We hope for a solid match. We need to approach it one game at a time, as this season is lengthy for us, and we will assess how many victories we can achieve from this point onward.”
Como currently sits in fifth place in Serie A, just three points behind fourth-placed Roma and a Champions League qualifying position following their 3-1 home victory against Lecce on Saturday.
Inter responded to last week’s Champions League elimination after a 5-2 aggregate loss to Bodo/Glimt by defeating Genoa 2-0 at the San Siro, maintaining a 10-point lead at the top of the standings.
The Nerazzurri remain without captain Lautaro Martínez (calf), but Italy defender Alessandro Bastoni is back in the lineup after serving a suspension.
Como players Martin Baturina (ankle) and Jayden Addai (Achilles) were absent from last weekend’s win, but Assane Diao has returned from his lengthy injury absence and is available for selection against Inter.
