Although Jake Paul is unable to compete due to his surgically repaired jaw, he continues to exert his influence as a full-time promoter aiming to facilitate significant matchups in women’s boxing.

This Friday, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions will host MVPW-02 at the Infosys Theater in Madison Square Garden, featuring Alycia Baumgardner and Bo Ri Me Shin as the main event. Additionally, a co-main event is generating considerable interest, with Shadasia Green defending her unified super middleweight titles against two-division champion Lani Daniels.

If Green secures a win, Paul believes it will pave the way for what he describes as one of the most significant fights in women’s boxing.

“I believe there are five super fights to be made in women’s boxing, and Claressa Shields versus Shadasia Green is among them,” Paul stated to ESPN. “That matchup is more significant than many of the so-called men’s super fights currently happening because Shields and Green possess that charisma, attitude, and the trash talk that boxing fans crave.”

Shields and Green have been eyeing each other for the last few years. Despite Green’s setback in 2023 against Franchon Crews-Dezurn, “The Sweet Terminator” made a strong impression by defeating Shields’ former opponent Savannah Marshall last July.

The two have engaged in exchanges on social media and in interviews regarding a potential bout, and with Green defending her titles against another former opponent of Shields, Paul views this as an ideal moment to build anticipation for Shields vs. Green.

“Claressa, this is your official invitation from me personally to attend on Friday, April 17th, at Madison Square Garden,” Paul remarked. “Come and watch your future opponent, Shadasia Green, in action.”

ESPN contacted Shields’ promoter, Dmitriy Salita, to inquire about the likelihood of the fight materializing. Salita expressed his willingness to consider collaborating with Most Valuable Promotions “in the future” for a Shields-Green matchup. However, he also noted that the unified super middleweight champion still has some challenges ahead, particularly against a fighter co-promoted by Salita and Shields.

“Danielle Perkins is the light heavyweight champion and has previously defeated Shadasia Green in the amateurs,” Salita mentioned. “That is a matchup that can be arranged this summer. Shadasia should defeat another fighter that Claressa has beaten to demonstrate that she possesses the skills to compete, not just talk. Perkins is the ideal opponent.”

Salita did not confirm or deny whether Shields would be present at Friday’s event.
