Manny Pacquiao announces rematch with Floyd Mayweather scheduled for September 19. 1

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are set to face each other once more in a professional boxing rematch on September 19 at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

The bout will be available for streaming worldwide on Netflix.

This announcement follows Mayweather Jr.’s recent declaration of his plans to return from retirement after his 2026 exhibition against Mike Tyson, along with his signing of a multi-fight agreement with CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS.

Pacquiao also returned from retirement last July, where he fought then-WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios to a majority draw. He is scheduled to participate in an exhibition match against Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Details regarding the weight class and the number of rounds for the upcoming fight have yet to be disclosed.

The production of the fight will be handled by EverWonder Studio, Hidden Empire, and Limitless X Holdings. The event is being promoted by Manny Pacquiao Promotions and Mayweather Promotions in collaboration with CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS.

On May 2, 2015, Mayweather defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision in a much-anticipated match that ultimately did not meet the high expectations set for it. Nonetheless, it broke several boxing records that remain intact today, including pay-per-view viewership in the United States, with 4.6 million buys and over $410 million in revenue. The event also set gate records with $72.2 million in ticket sales.

“I already fought and beat Manny once,” Mayweather stated. “This time will yield the same outcome.”

Mayweather, who will turn 49 on February 24, retired from boxing at the age of 40 following his knockout victory over MMA fighter Conor McGregor in August 2017, concluding his career with an unblemished record of 50-0, including 27 wins by stoppage. He has remained active by participating in exhibitions against individuals such as Logan Paul and John Gotti III.

It was revealed last September that Mayweather and Tyson would face off in an exhibition match in spring 2026, although no specific date or location has been confirmed.

Pacquiao, 47, has long sought a rematch with Mayweather, claiming he was not at full strength during their initial encounter due to a shoulder injury. He initially retired from boxing after his 2021 defeat to Yordenis Ugas but made a comeback in 2025 to fight Barrios.

With both fighters returning to professional competition, Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs) aims to be the first to mar Mayweather’s flawless record.

“Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history,” Pacquiao remarked. “The fans have waited long enough—they deserve this rematch, and it will be even larger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix. I want Floyd to carry the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing honor to the Philippines.”

Although the fight may not have the chance to break pay-per-view records, its availability on Netflix will allow it to reach over 325 million subscribers globally. The 2024 matchup between Jake Paul and Tyson marked Netflix’s initial venture into boxing and attracted 108 million live global viewers, making it the most-streamed sporting event in history.

“Earlier in my career, I spent weeks in Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s training camps in Las Vegas and the Philippines,” said Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Sports at Netflix, in a statement. “It was clear that they were the two hardest workers in boxing, and their achievements were a result of that dedication. Bringing this rematch to Netflix is a significant ‘full-circle’ moment. We’re excited to merge their historic rivalry with the innovative technology of Sphere to present a landmark sporting event to our members worldwide.”

This event will also signify the first boxing match held at The Sphere. The UFC hosted an event at the $2.3 billion venue in 2024, with production expenses surpassing $20 million.
