Boxing champion Canelo Alvarez begins college studies during recovery period from injury.

Canelo Alvarez stands out as one of the most successful figures in professional boxing, recognized as a multi-division world champion and one of the highest-earning athletes in history.
The Mexican icon is presently recuperating from elbow surgery and intends to return to the ring in September. In the meantime, Canelo has chosen to pursue higher education by enrolling at the University of San Diego.
Alvarez, 35, shared this news on his Instagram account, posting a photo of himself at school with the caption “It’s never too late to start. First day of school.”
Hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico, Canelo left his education early to concentrate on boxing as a means to support his family, turning professional at the age of 15. Two decades and millions of dollars later, the boxer seems to convey that there is always an opportunity for learning and personal development.
Despite his remarkable success and financial security that could sustain multiple generations of the Alvarez family, Canelo appears to be contemplating his future.
In a photo where he holds a board listing his teacher (“Bryan”) and his passion (“Golf”), the multi-millionaire humorously declares, “I want to be a Businessman when I grow up.” Possibly motivated by the financial difficulties faced by some legendary boxers, Canelo aims to ensure that his wealth endures beyond his boxing career.
Canelo also notes that he is part of the “Class of 2027,” indicating that he does not intend to remain in school for an extended period. Nevertheless, the driven boxer seeks to gain sufficient knowledge to transition successfully into business after his time in the ring.
