NEW YORK — Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been handed a one-game suspension without pay by the NBA following his 16th technical foul of the season during a defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.

As per NBA regulations, a player or coach faces an automatic one-game suspension after accumulating their 16th technical foul. Brooks will be sidelined for an additional game for every two further technicals he incurs this season.

Brooks will be unavailable for the Suns’ matchup against the San Antonio Spurs on Feb. 19.

The 30-year-old Brooks is experiencing a breakout season in his inaugural year with the Suns. The 6-foot-7 forward is posting a career-best average of 21.2 points per game, and his bold demeanor has significantly contributed to the team’s unexpected 32-23 record.
