Spurs exclude injured Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle from lineup.

SAN ANTONIO — The Spurs have announced that Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle will not participate in Wednesday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Wembanyama sustained a left rib contusion during the first half of Monday’s 115-102 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Castle, who recorded 17 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds in that matchup, was listed as doubtful for Wednesday due to right knee soreness following the game.
In 15:40 of play against the Sixers, Wembanyama achieved 17 points, five rebounds, and three blocks. This performance qualifies as an official game under NBA regulations, which permit two exceptions of 15 to 19:59 minutes to count towards the league’s required minimum of 65 games for award eligibility.
Wembanyama, a candidate for MVP, defensive player of the year, and All-NBA honors, requires one additional game (with at least 20 minutes played) to meet the criteria for these individual accolades.
