Phoenix Suns guard Dillon Brooks sustained a broken left hand during Saturday’s double-overtime victory against the Orlando Magic and is anticipated to be out for a significant duration, sources informed ESPN.
Medical professionals are scheduled to convene on Sunday to establish a precise timeline for Brooks, sources indicated.
Brooks’ injury adds to the challenges faced by the Suns, who revealed prior to Saturday’s matchup that All-Star guard Devin Booker would be unavailable for at least one week due to a right hip strain sustained against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.
Brooks logged seven minutes in the game against the Magic, contributing five points and three rebounds before his injury. He is an essential component of the playoff-contending Suns, entering Saturday with an average of 21.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Phoenix holds a 3-4 record this season without Brooks.
Brooks has raised his scoring average by 6.9 points compared to last season, marking the sixth-largest increase among players eligible for the scoring title in both seasons, as per ESPN Research.
Booker is averaging 24.7 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds across 44 games this season. The 29-year-old recently missed seven consecutive games due to a sprained right ankle.
