San Antonio Spurs don coordinated all-black attire ahead of Game 1 1

The San Antonio Spurs are set to host their first home playoff match in seven years on Sunday and arrived appropriately attired for the event.

From Victor Wembanyama to rookie Carter Bryant, every player on the Spurs roster donned an all-black suit as they entered the Frostbank Center. Spurs rookie Dylan Harper mentioned that the last occasion he wore a suit was during draft night in June.

Some players accessorized with dark ties while others sported sunglasses, but the deviation from the uniformity ended there, presenting an image of a cohesive team ahead of Game 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Forward Kelly Olynyk, who joined the squad last summer, proposed the idea for the team to wear all-black suits, as reported by the Spurs to ESPN. Olynyk complemented his outfit with a backwards cap and sunglasses.

When questioned about the suits prior to the game by ESPN, center Bismack Biyombo kept his remarks straightforward ahead of the Spurs’ first playoff game since April 25, 2019.

“We’ve got to get this thing started right,” he stated.

San Antonio enters its first-round series against Portland as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. The Spurs finished the regular season with a record of 62-20, marking their highest win total since the 2015-16 season when they achieved 67 victories.

Sunday marks San Antonio’s first home playoff game since a Game 6 victory in 2019 against the Denver Nuggets. The Spurs have not reached the postseason since then and have not won a series since 2017. However, at least in terms of attire, San Antonio is making a strong impression.
