Moses Moody sustains knee injury in Warriors' overtime victory against Dallas 1

Golden State Warriors forward Moses Moody sustained a non-contact injury to his left knee late in Monday’s 137-131 overtime victory in Dallas, requiring a stretcher to leave the court.

Moody intercepted the ball from Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg with 1:13 remaining in overtime and attempted what seemed to be an uncontested dunk to seal the win, but his left knee gave way as he landed, causing him to fall to the ground.

Play continued for several moments while Moody remained on the floor near the Warriors’ bench. Following the next stoppage, teammates, staff, and trainers surrounded Moody to assess his condition. Arena personnel brought out a stretcher, and the game was paused for several minutes.

Moody had just returned from a recent right wrist sprain, having missed the prior 10 games. He had been effective against the Mavericks, scoring 23 points and recording three steals, while challenging Flagg for much of the second half.

However, yet another in a series of significant injuries impacted Moody and the Warriors, overshadowing the road victory. They have already lost veteran wing Jimmy Butler to a torn ACL, and Stephen Curry has been sidelined for the last 22 games due to his own ongoing right knee issue.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr mentioned that Moody underwent X-rays immediately following the game.

“We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad,” Kerr stated.

Moody is in his fifth season, averaging a career-best 11.9 points, having started in 49 of the 60 games he has played. He is in the first year of a three-year, $39 million contract extension he signed before his fourth season.
