HOUSTON — LeBron James has decided against pursuing a role in an ownership group for a potential NBA expansion team in Las Vegas.

“No, I’m not,” James stated after scoring 30 points in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 124-116 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. “Not at all.”

This is a notion that James has previously considered publicly on several occasions. During a 2022 episode of his digital series “The Shop,” he expressed, “I want a team in Vegas. I want the team in Vegas.”

However, with a vote set for next week’s board of governors meeting to approve the initiation of the bidding process for franchises in Las Vegas and Seattle, James indicated that he does not plan to be involved in this process.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Monday that industry leaders anticipate proposals in the range of $7-10 billion for each expansion franchise.
