Lakers’ Hayes and Spurs’ Bryant confirm participation in slam dunk contest

Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes and San Antonio Spurs rookie Carter Bryant have both accepted invitations to participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star weekend in Los Angeles, according to sources cited by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 7-foot Hayes gained attention with a between-the-legs dunk during a victory against the Bulls on Monday.
The 6-foot-6 Bryant, selected as the 14th overall pick in last year’s NBA draft, is currently averaging 2.5 points across 35 games with the Spurs this season.
Mac McClung, who has claimed victory in the contest for three consecutive years, will not take part this season, as confirmed by his father to ESPN on Monday.
All-Star weekend is scheduled for February 13-15 at the Intuit Dome, with the Dunk Contest set for February 14.
