Lakers confirm LeBron James (foot) will not play, concluding All-NBA streak 1

LOS ANGELES — LeBron James’ streak of All-NBA selections is set to conclude, and the Lakers will be significantly short-handed on Tuesday as they face the San Antonio Spurs.

James has been ruled out for the game due to arthritis in his left foot, as announced by the Lakers, who also confirmed the absences of Luka Doncic (left hamstring strain), Austin Reaves (left calf injury management), and Marcus Smart (right ankle soreness).

This marks the 18th game James will miss this season, making it unfeasible for him to meet the 65-game minimum necessary for eligibility for the league’s annual awards.

James had achieved All-NBA team selections for an unprecedented 21 consecutive seasons.

Doncic will miss his third consecutive game due to what Lakers president of basketball operations and general manager, Rob Pelinka, described as a “mild” strain.

Sources informed ESPN that Doncic was able to run on Monday and intended to take part in a five-on-five practice with contact on Tuesday. He has not dismissed the chance of playing against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks, on Thursday and is hopeful of participating in Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game at the Intuit Dome.

At 26, Doncic was the leading vote recipient in the NBA for the first time in his eight-year career, gathering over 3 million votes.

Lakers center Deandre Ayton is also listed on the injury report with soreness in his right knee and is considered questionable.

Rookie forward Adou Theiro, who has been sidelined since December 30 due to a sprained MCL in his right knee, is set to be available for the matchup against San Antonio.

L.A. (32-20) has a record of 1-2 against the Spurs (36-16) this season.
