Lakers classify LeBron James (elbow) as unavailable for matchup against Knicks 1

The Los Angeles Lakers have changed LeBron James’ status from questionable to out just one hour prior to the start of Sunday’s matchup against the New York Knicks.

James has been ruled out due to a contusion on his left elbow and arthritis in his left foot.

The injury to his elbow occurred when he fell on it while making a layup late in Thursday’s defeat to the Denver Nuggets. He was unable to participate in the subsequent victory over the Indiana Pacers due to this injury.

Lakers center Deandre Ayton, who also sat out the game against the Pacers because of a sore knee, was cleared to play against the Knicks.

In his 23rd season in the NBA, James is currently averaging 21.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 7.0 assists across 44 games this season for the Lakers.
