The New York Knicks are set to obtain point guard Jose Alvarado from the New Orleans Pelicans in return for Dalen Terry, two second-round selections, and cash, according to sources cited by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Alvarado, a native of Brooklyn, has established himself in the NBA as a tenacious defender and diligent player after going undrafted. He began his professional journey on a two-way contract with New Orleans in 2021 and was subsequently promoted to a standard contract following his impressive performances.

At 27 years old, Alvarado is currently averaging 7.9 points and nearly one steal per game this season. Known as “Grand Theft Alvarado,” the undersized point guard is particularly recognized for his knack for stealing inbound passes when opponents are least prepared.

Last season, Alvarado signed an extension with the Pelicans and possesses a player option valued at $4.5 million for the upcoming season.

The Knicks reportedly acquired Terry from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Guerschon Yabusele, and he is now being sent to New Orleans. Terry, who is 23, is on an expiring contract and will enter free agency this summer.
