OKLAHOMA CITY — New York Knicks guard Miles McBride was activated on Sunday for the first time since having hernia surgery in February.

McBride, who has not participated in a game since late January, will have a minute restriction for Sunday night’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, as stated by Knicks head coach Mike Brown.

This season, McBride has started 14 games, primarily due to injuries affecting the starting lineup, in 35 total appearances. He is shooting a career-best 42 percent from beyond the arc on nearly seven attempts per game and is averaging 12.9 points, which is also a career high. Prior to his hernia surgery, McBride dealt with a high ankle sprain in December that caused him to miss three weeks. Upon his return, he showcased some of his best performances, even as the Knicks faced challenges with inconsistency.

During the 28 games he has been sidelined, the Knicks have recorded a 20-8 record, including a seven-game winning streak that was halted in Charlotte on Friday night. The production from the Knicks’ bench has been inconsistent, but with his return to health, McBride is expected to enhance the team with his on-ball defense and 3-point shooting.

As of Sunday, the Knicks ranked ninth in 3-point field goals made and fourth in 3-point shooting percentage.
