INGLEWOOD, Calif. — This weekend’s NBA All-Star Game will feature a live performance of “Roundball Rock” by John Tesh.
Tesh is set to perform the iconic song to kick off Sunday’s All-Star Game, which will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock, as announced by the NBA on Wednesday while revealing the weekend’s musical acts.
<p Ludacris, a three-time Grammy Award recipient, will headline the Saturday event prior to the All-Star dunk contest. Additionally, Grammy winners Brandy and Sarah McLachlan will sing the national anthems for the U.S. and Canada before the All-Star Game on Sunday.
This marks Tesh’s first live performance inside a sports arena, according to the NBA. The league noted that “Roundball Rock” commemorates the return of the NBA All-Star Game to NBC after a 24-year hiatus.
The song served as the long-standing anthem for NBC’s NBA coverage from 1990 to 2002. NBC has resumed its NBA broadcasting this season, marking the beginning of a new 11-year broadcasting agreement for the league.
