Jeremy Sochan to join Knicks following successful waiver clearance

Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan intends to join the New York Knicks once he clears waivers, as confirmed by his agent Deirunas Visockas of Gersh Sports to ESPN on Thursday.
Sochan, who was let go by the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, had 10 potential teams interested and ultimately chose the Knicks as his new destination. His contract with the Knicks, who have been seeking additional wing depth ahead of the trade deadline, will last for the remainder of the season.
The 6-foot-8 Sochan, 22, offers the Knicks a youthful, athletic wing with both size and adaptability. Over four-plus seasons with the Spurs, he averaged 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 25.3 minutes per game across 212 appearances.
Selected ninth overall in the 2022 NBA draft, he participated in the Rising Stars game twice during his rookie and sophomore years. Sochan, known for his strong defensive capabilities when needed, had seen a reduction in his playing time with San Antonio, partly due to the rise of rookie forward Carter Bryant, who was picked No. 14 in 2025.
This season, Sochan has played in 28 games, averaging 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and an assist while shooting 47.5% from the field. During Victor Wembanyama’s rookie year, the Spurs tested Sochan at point guard, where he recorded a notable 31-point, 14-rebound game.
