Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Jazz undergoes surgery for a growth on his left knee.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr. underwent a surgical procedure on Tuesday to excise a growth from his left knee.
The Jazz announced that Jackson will commence rehabilitation and will be re-evaluated in four weeks to assess his recovery progress. The operation was conducted by Dr. Travis Maak in Salt Lake City.
Last week, ESPN reported that Jackson is anticipated to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Utah obtained Jackson from Memphis in an eight-player trade on February 3. A physical examination following the trade uncovered the localized pigmented villonodular synovitis growth.
Jackson was brought in as a significant component alongside Lauri Markkanen, although his limited playing time post-trade sparked controversy due to concerns regarding tanking in the NBA. However, sources informed ESPN that he was subject to a minutes restriction for medical reasons.
The 26-year-old was selected by the Grizzlies with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 draft. He is a two-time All-Star from his time in Memphis and was named the 2023 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Jackson, who participated in three games for Utah, has averaged 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 blocks over 48 games this season.
