Heat set to release troubled guard Terry Rozier 1

The Miami Heat are set to release guard Terry Rozier on Friday, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Rozier has been on leave from the NBA since October due to federal indictments related to sports betting activities.

This move will allow Miami to create a roster spot to add a player for the playoffs.

Rozier was taken into custody on Oct. 23 as part of a federal probe into unlawful gambling.

He has entered a not guilty plea to charges of conspiracy involving wire fraud and money laundering. His $26.6 million contract is set to expire this summer, although the funds have been held in escrow while Rozier’s legal matters are resolved.
