ATLANTA — Hawks forward Jalen Johnson exited Tuesday night’s 119-98 victory over the Washington Wizards due to a left hip flexor injury.

Johnson sustained the injury during the first quarter and was subsequently ruled out following an assessment by the training staff.

“There was sufficient concern not to allow him to return to the game,” coach Quin Snyder stated.

Johnson, who secured his first All-Star Game selection this season, will undergo further evaluation prior to the Hawks’ rematch against the Wizards on Thursday, completing back-to-back games in Atlanta. It remains uncertain whether he will be sidelined for any additional games.

In approximately 5½ minutes of play against the Wizards, Johnson recorded five points, three rebounds, and two steals. He entered the game averaging 23.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 8.1 assists.

His absence allowed Jonathan Kuminga to achieve a season-high 27 points in his debut with the Hawks. Kuminga was acquired from Golden State at the trade deadline.
