Grizzlies match record for highest number of 3-pointers with 29 but fall to Cavaliers

The Memphis Grizzlies recorded 29 3-pointers on Monday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, equaling an NBA single-game record.
However, it was not sufficient.
Nine players from the Grizzlies hit at least one 3-pointer in a 142-126 defeat to the Cavaliers. The team achieved a shooting percentage of 49.2% (29-for-59) from beyond the arc and 45.7% (16-for-35) from inside the perimeter.
This 3-point record was previously held jointly by Milwaukee and Boston. The Bucks set the record with 29 3s in a 144-97 win over Miami on December 29, 2020, while the Celtics matched it in a 132-109 victory against the New York Knicks on October 22, 2024.
The Grizzlies’ 29 3-pointers represent the highest total in a loss in NBA history, as reported by ESPN Research. The former record was set by the Golden State Warriors, who made 27 in a loss in 2024.
Memphis hit 10 3-pointers in the first quarter, three in the second, six in the third, and 10 in the final quarter.
The Cavaliers finished the game with a 12-for-32 performance from 3-point range.
Memphis bench players Adama Bal and Dariq Whitehead each contributed six 3-pointers. Lucas Williamson went 5 for 12 from beyond the arc, while Olivier-Maxence Prosper was 4 for 5.
This marked the Grizzlies’ 18th loss in their last 20 games. They had been averaging 13.7 made 3-pointers per game prior to this matchup.
