Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow, as announced by the team on Tuesday evening.

Morant, a two-time NBA All-Star, participated in only 20 games this season. The Grizzlies investigated trade options for him prior to the February deadline but encountered minimal interest from other franchises.

Morant sustained the elbow sprain on January 21 during the second game of his return after a two-week hiatus caused by calf soreness.

The team reported that Morant recently sought advice regarding his ongoing elbow discomfort. It was suggested that he undergo a platelet-rich plasma injection to enhance the healing of the ligament. He is anticipated to be prepared for the beginning of the 2026-27 season.

Over the last three seasons, Morant has participated in only 79 games due to various injuries and multiple suspensions. He has two years and $87 million left on his contract.
