A grand jury in Fort Bend County, Texas, issued a no-bill on Monday regarding the case of former NBA player Patrick Beverley, who was taken into custody last fall on a felony assault charge related to what law enforcement described as a “family violence” incident.

The grand jury’s ruling, indicating insufficient evidence to proceed to trial against Beverley, concludes the case.

“Patrick wants everyone to understand that he would never harm his sister and is extremely thankful that the grand jury acknowledged this with their no-bill,” stated Beverley’s attorneys, Rusty Hardin and Letitia Quinones-Hollins. “He appreciates all those who prayed for him and supported him during this period. He is pleased that the process unfolded as it did, and his hope is that with these charges now behind him, his name and reputation will be restored.”

Beverley, 37, was arrested in November at a residence in Rosharon, Texas. At that time, he shared an unsigned message on social media indicating that he had unexpectedly discovered his sister, a minor, alone with an 18-year-old male.

“He was understandably worried, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we do not believe that what transpired afterward occurred as it has been portrayed, and we look forward to the chance to clarify that in court,” the statement read.

Following the grand jury’s decision on Monday, Beverley wrote: “I am profoundly thankful for all the thoughts and prayers for the family. We must continue to safeguard our children, particularly our young girls. This experience has genuinely strengthened our family. Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers.”

Beverley last participated in an NBA game for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. He had previously played for the Houston Rockets, the LA Clippers, and several other teams throughout his 12-year career.
