Foot sprain will keep Mavs' Cooper Flagg out until after All-Star break 1

Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg is dealing with a left midfoot sprain that will keep him out through All-Star Weekend, as announced by the team on Wednesday.

A team source informed ESPN that he is anticipated to return right after the break.

An MRI conducted on Wednesday confirmed the sprain, which took place during Dallas’ matchup against Phoenix on Tuesday, according to the team.

Flagg, who was the top selection in last year’s draft and is a leading candidate for Rookie of the Year, will be unavailable for Thursday’s away game versus the Los Angeles Lakers and the Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend.

The Mavericks’ first contest following the break is scheduled on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 20.

Despite Flagg, 19, averaging 29.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over the last eight games, Dallas has suffered eight consecutive losses. For the season, he is averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
