Clarke of the Grizzlies detained in Arkansas on drug and speeding offenses

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke was taken into custody on Wednesday in Arkansas on charges that include speeding and possession of a controlled substance.
Due to injuries, Clarke has participated in only two games this season, and the Memphis organization has declared him out for the remainder of the season.
“I am aware of the report, but I have no comments,” Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo stated prior to Memphis’ matchup on Wednesday night against New York.
The Cross County Sheriff’s Department reported that Clarke was booked into jail on Wednesday afternoon for improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, exceeding the speed limit, and trafficking a controlled substance. The department’s website also featured a booking photo of Clarke.
The 6-foot-7 forward is currently in his seventh season after playing at Gonzaga. Clarke has been sidelined for 73 games, having initially missed 26 games while recovering from surgery on his right knee, followed by the last 46 games due to a right calf strain.
The Grizzlies announced on March 24 that Clarke was continuing his rehabilitation; however, recent evaluations indicated that he required additional healing before being cleared for “high-intensity court work.” The team confirmed that Clarke is out for the rest of this season and is anticipated to return for the next season.
