Celtics confirm Nikola Vucevic will not play due to fractured right finger 1

BOSTON — Celtics center Nikola Vucevic sustained a fracture to the ring finger on his right hand during Friday night’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks and did not return to the game.

Vucevic was on the court for only two minutes before he had to leave.

This game marked Vucevic’s 12th appearance since being traded to Boston from the Chicago Bulls prior to last month’s deadline.

The 15-year NBA veteran was contributing an average of 11.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 23.5 minutes per game for the Celtics, adding essential depth to the frontcourt alongside less experienced centers Neemias Queta and Luka Garza.

Vucevic’s departure coincided with superstar Jayson Tatum’s return to the court for his first game in 10 months after recovering from a torn Achilles.
