Cleveland Cavaliers standout Donovan Mitchell will be unavailable for Thursday’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls due to a contusion in his left eye.

Mitchell’s left eye appeared bloodshot following a collision with Evan Mobley during a practice session earlier this week. He managed to play through the injury on Tuesday night in Milwaukee, but faced difficulties on the court, finishing with 19 points on 4 of 14 shooting.

In the locker room after the game on Tuesday, Mitchell admitted that it was challenging since he “could not really see out of his left eye.”

“He was experiencing problems last game, like blurry [vision],” Atkinson stated prior to Thursday’s game in Chicago. “It’s not a scratched cornea, nothing serious, but we need to allow it to heal.”

Mitchell is currently averaging 28.0 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds with a shooting percentage of 48% over 61 games this season.

Cleveland was also without center Jarrett Allen, who missed his seventh straight game on Thursday due to right knee tendinitis. Allen is also expected to be sidelined for Saturday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
