Bulls trade White and Conley to Hornets in exchange for Sexton and Dieng

The Chicago Bulls continued their roster transformation on Wednesday, trading guard Coby White and Mike Conley to the Charlotte Hornets in return for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng, and three second-round draft picks, as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Hornets obtained Dieng and a second-round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Mason Plumlee, sources indicated. Dieng was subsequently sent to Chicago as part of several transactions.
White, who was selected by Chicago in 2019, has spent seven seasons with the franchise, making him the longest-serving player on the team. However, he was poised to enter free agency this summer and now joins the surging Hornets, who have won seven straight games and eight of their last nine, as they aim for a spot in the play-in tournament.
Charlotte is just one game behind Chicago for the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference.
This season, White is averaging 18.6 points and 4.7 assists while shooting 44% over 29 games.
The Bulls have been proactive leading up to Thursday’s deadline, executing two trades on Tuesday to acquire Jaden Ivey and Anfernee Simons while parting ways with Nikola Vucevic and Kevin Huerter.
Chicago also adds Dieng, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2022 draft, who is averaging approximately 11 minutes per game for the Thunder, contributing 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds. At just 22 years old, Dieng aligns well with the timeline of the Bulls’ young core. Sexton, 27, is posting an average of 14.2 points on 48% shooting across 42 games this season.
As per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Bulls will receive the least favorable second-round pick between Denver and Charlotte, along with a 2031 pick from the New York Knicks and a 2031 pick from the Denver Nuggets.
The Hornets will obtain the least favorable 2029 second-round pick between the Hawks and Heat from the Thunder as part of the transaction that brought Dieng to them in exchange for Plumlee.
