Bulls release Jaden Ivey following remarks deemed anti-LGBTQ+

The Chicago Bulls are releasing guard Jaden Ivey following his recent anti-gay remarks amid various rants on religion and other subjects, sources informed ESPN’s Shams Charania on Monday.
Ivey has shared a number of videos on social media in recent weeks, with one criticizing the NBA for honoring Pride Month, stating it promotes “unrighteousness.”
Ivey, 24, has previously discussed his struggles with depression.
The Bulls obtained Ivey in a trade with the Detroit Pistons last month. He participated in four games for the Bulls before being sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a left knee injury.
Ivey was selected with the No. 5 pick in 2022 and played prominently for a rebuilding Pistons squad before knee problems restricted him to just 30 games in 2024-25 and caused him to miss several games this season.
He did not reach a contract extension agreement with Detroit last summer, making him a free agent as he heads into this offseason.
