Blazers’ Sharpe experiences stress reaction, sidelined for a minimum of 4-6 weeks

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left fibula and will undergo re-evaluation in four to six weeks, the team announced on Tuesday.
Sharpe had previously missed the last six games due to a strain in his left calf. Subsequent imaging tests indicated the presence of the stress reaction.
The estimated four-to-six week period for Sharpe will facilitate healing “before commencing a gradual return to full basketball activities,” the team stated in a release.
The 22-year-old Sharpe is currently the second-leading scorer on the team, averaging 21.4 points this season. Additionally, he contributes an average of 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
He sustained the calf injury earlier this month during the first half of the Trail Blazers’ 135-115 win against the Memphis Grizzlies, which ended a six-game losing streak.
In his fourth season, Sharpe was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft.
