Finn Russell has become the latest rugby player to sign with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency, joining England’s Henry Pollock.

Pollock, who plays for Northampton Saints, signed with boxing promoter Hearn last month, marking the agency’s initial foray into the sport.

Russell, the fly-half for Bath and Scotland, has now followed in his footsteps to become part of the talent agency that was established just last month. UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall was their inaugural signing.

“After meeting Eddie Hearn and the Matchroom team, and understanding their vision for Rugby, I realized this was the right decision,” Russell stated.

“Their achievements in other sports are well-known, and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead.”

Hearn acknowledged Russell’s status as one of the top names in global rugby and aims to “position” him accordingly in the future.

“We’re thrilled to have Finn join the Matchroom family,” Hearn remarked.

“This is shaping up to be a significant period for Rugby Union with the World Cup approaching next year — and Finn is arguably one of the most skilled players in the world today.

“We’re extremely eager to collaborate with such a star of the sport. The goal now is to ensure we provide for him off the field — because after all, they refer to him as the Lionel Messi of Rugby.”
