Martin Brundle advises Max Verstappen to either exit F1 or refrain from discussing it.

Martin Brundle has stated that Max Verstappen should either exit Formula 1 “or refrain from discussing it,” asserting that his remarks are “tedious” and that no driver is “irreplaceable.”
Verstappen, a four-time world champion, caused a stir in the paddock on Sunday by suggesting he might leave F1 at the conclusion of the season due to the new regulations and vehicles.
This is not the first occasion Verstappen has expressed his dissatisfaction, and Sky Sports analyst Brundle mentioned he is growing weary of the Dutchman’s grievances.
“Max is quite unfiltered, isn’t he? He always has been,” Brundle remarked. “And he has long stated, ‘I’m not in this for the long term; I won’t be around in my 40s.’
“I think what he’s saying is becoming somewhat tiresome now. Either leave, or stop discussing it. It is what it is; you must make the most of it.”
He continued: “No one is irreplaceable in this industry. I’ve witnessed numerous remarkable individuals come through this sport who are no longer present or have transitioned to other pursuits. The sport continues. This applies to any of us. The moment we step away, discussions will arise about who will take over.”
“There are countless [Kimi] Antonellis, [Ollie] Bearmans, [Arvid] Lindblads out there who would perform the role exceptionally well for a fraction of the cost. The sport will simply move on if Max chooses to depart.”
Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull is set to expire in 2028, but Sunday marked the first time he indicated a potential departure at the end of this season.
“I would greatly miss his skill; his overall speed and car control are qualities that very few in the history of motorsport possess,” Brundle stated. “It’s remarkable.
“I have no doubt that since Red Bull is producing their own powertrain for the first time, his management would have included an exit clause at the end of this year to evaluate the situation.”
“Mercedes is indicating there is currently no space available, so I am uncertain about where he might go.”

Verstappen also implied that F1’s regulators could retain him in the sport by altering the rules. Brundle, who participated in 165 F1 racesβsome alongside Michael Schumacherβbelieves the seven-time world champion would have approached a similar situation differently.
“He’s causing quite a bit of disruption in the meantime, but we all recognize that’s how Max operates,” Brundle remarked.
“I would be surprised if he genuinely walks away from it. It’s fantastic to be at the Nurburgring; I’ve experienced thatβbut do I believe he would simply leave F1? No, I don’t, as long as he can secure a car that suits him.
“His points are harshly made, yet valid in that this situation is currently incorrect. However, a Schumacher would have likely closed the door, pounded the desk, metaphorically grabbed the right individuals by the collar, and exited with a smile, claiming everything is fine.
“And then, if they fail to resolve the issues, which we anticipate in Miami, he would start addressing the media. That’s just not how Max handles matters.”
